OZARK — A Brundidge man charged with murder in connection with the 2018 death of an Ozark man will remain in jail after a Dale County judge denied his request for bond.

The purpose of the 2021 Aniah’s Law is to allow judges the option of denying bond to those who are charged with committing violent crimes. The amendment is named for Aniah Blanchard, who went missing in 2019 and was later found murdered. The man charged with her death was out on bond at the time, despite being charged with multiple violent crimes including kidnapping. Under previous state law, bond is to be granted to anyone prior to their conviction.

At the Aniah’s Law Hearing last week, Chadwick outlined the events leading to Rodgers’ arrest. He said that Crittenden’s door to his apartment in Ozark had been kicked in and “a large amount of blood” was around Crittenden’s body, which was discovered shot to death by a neighbor the morning following the shooting.
