A majority of Queenslanders believe the state is headed in the wrong direction nearly a decade into the reign of Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
As it stands more men than women believe the state is headed in the wrong direction, though more women than men are undecided.Ms Palaszczuk, the only remaining Covid-era Premier in Australia, has led the Labor government for nine years and despite a dive in her popularity is adamant on leading the party in their quest for a historic fourth-term.
She has so far survived internal ructions for her to be removed, with leadership speculation hitting fever pitch in August when Ms Palaszczuk jetted off to Italy for her second European jaunt in a year. A whopping 47 per cent of respondents to The Courier-Mail’s new YouGov poll of 1013 Queenslanders, conducted between October 4 and 10, believe the state was headed in the wrong direction.This is a 20 point increase since October 2020, in the height of Covid-19, when just 27 per cent of Queenslanders believed the state was headed in the wrong direction while 54 per cent believed it was headed in the right direction.
The recent poll is also the third in the row which shows most Queenslanders believe the state was headed downhill.
