IPOH: The Perak Fire and Rescue Department has deployed tracker dogs from its K9 unit to locate an eight-year-old boy who is feared drowned at Teratak River View Lubuk Hantu, Simpang Empat in Tanjung Malim.

Its Perak operations division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said two dogs were used in the search and rescue operation to find the missing victim by searching along the river bank.

"The team resumed the operation this morning with a surface searc covering a distance of 2km from the location where the victim was last seen," he said in a statement on Sunday . He said the second day of the rescue effort, involved 24 firemen from the Tanjung Malim Fire and Rescue Station and Water Rescue Team personnel from Ipoh, Kuala Kangsar and Teluk Intan.

The operation was also assisted by the police, People's Volunteer Corps and Malaysian Civil Defence Force , as well as seven members of Kampung Slim Volunteer Fire Brigade, he said. On Saturday , the department received a distress call about the victim who went missing. He was wearing a black swimsuit with green spots when he went missing at 5.06pm. – Bernama
