An interview with national security adviser John Bolton briefly went off the rails when Bolton accused his interviewer of attempting to steer the discussion about an uprising in Venezuela to Russian collusion
Bolton got testy when pressed during the interview on what President Donald Trump was doing to combat Russian influence as opposition leader Juan Guaido’s bid to oust dictator Nicolas Maduro turned violent Tuesday.The acrimonious exchange appeared to stem from a miscommunication over what Bolton had just said in an interview on Fox News, when he revealed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had a call scheduled later Wednesday with his Russian counterpart.
“Because I'm reading a transcript of an interview you just did on Fox News,” Berman responded, before being cut off by Bolton. “That doesn't sound like a transcript to me, it sounded like a report,” Bolton retorted, to which Berman insisted he was not attempting to catch Bolton in a trap.
