Patrick Kane on Broadway? Or playing next to Connor McDavid? And where do Jakob Chychrun and Timo Meier land? This week, we asked our NHL experts for their bold predictions ahead of the March 3 trade deadline.
Is it still bold to say that? Probably not. But it will take some guts to rework the edges of the roster to make part of Kane’s $10.5 million cap hit fit, and then there’s the question of whether adding Kane gives the Rangers too many high-end skill guys and not enough glue guys. Whatever. Kane wants to come to New York and has pretty much since we this was one of our preseason bold predictions, so general manager Chris Drury will find a way.
It just feels like the Senators are going to make an aggressive move here, and I say they try swinging for the fences. It would certainly be a bold move for a team that is not currently in a playoff spot and still has a significant uphill battle to get there. —It’s not exactly a bold prediction in the classic sense, but I’m not expecting the Flyers to make any particularly bold moves at the deadline, beyond selling off their expiring contracts .
