Boerne's 'little brother' lifts his team in big moment in Little League World Series
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT , Pa. — In arguably the biggest moment to date of Boerne ’s first appearance at the Little League Baseball World Series, Southwest manager Justin Newson turned to the team’s “little brother.” Bases loaded. Two-run lead cut in half. A Henderson , Nev. , rally emerging so fast that there was no time to warm up a pitcher.
After Gabe Gaudin fouled off 1-2 and 2-2 pitches, Christ caught him looking at a third strike with a full count. Christ faced two more batters and did not throw another ball. “I was just thinking just throw strikes, let them hit it,” said Christ, who threw strikes on his last six pitches and 11 of 14 total. The Mountain Region champions did tie the game, largely because of how badly fooled Christ had the next hitter, Gunner Beranek.
