City officials say the increases are needed due to the city's rapid growth and higher operating costs.

Customers who get their water from Boerne Utilities are about to see their monthly bills go up. The Boerne City Council on Tuesday night approved a 7% rate hike for both drinking water and reclaimed water. The council also approved an increase in the base connection fee for water users. The new rates kick in on Feb. 1, according to city documents.

Bathroom doors removed at Texas Hill Country high school. Here's why. City officials say the increases are needed due to the city's rapid growth and higher operating costs. Boerne's population grew from 10,500 in 2010 to about 22,000 in 2023, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates. The base connection fee for meters that use water lines that are 5/8 of an inch went from $28 to $30. The fee for residential customers with water lines that are 3/4 of an inch went from $59 to $63.
