SUNGAI PETANI: A woman's body was found with hands tied behind her back with a phone charger cable and mouth gagged with cloth in her rented house at Taman Sutera Idaman here on Sunday (March 8).
Kuala Muda deputy police chief Supt Shamsuddin Mamat said the body of the victim, Haziah Yeop Osman, 58, a babysitter, was found in the house lying face down on the floor next to her bed in the master bedroom.
Supt Shamsuddin said the matter came into light when a man wanted to drop off his child at the house but she did not answer the door at about 7.30am."Suspected something amiss, he called the police," Supt Shamsuddin said in a statement.He said the police found the body of the deceased, adding there was no evidence indicating the place was ransacked or any forced entry.The body has been sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for a post-mortem.
