Seong Cho, a 53-year-old Korean national residing in West Hartford, Connecticut, was also killed. His body was also previously recovered.
Park was among six people trying to climb Colchuck Peak when the lead climber triggered the avalanche at about 1 p.m. on Feb. 19, theThe fourth hiker, a 56-year-old New York man, suffered injuries not considered life-threatening and was able to hike back to base camp with the remaining two hikers, a 36-year-old man from New Jersey and a 53-year-old Connecticut man, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office said 22 recovery workers responded, but avalanche conditions were too dangerous for several days to continue looking for the hikers.Colchuck Peak has an elevation of 8,705 feet and is at the south end of Colchuck Lake, about eight miles south of Leavenworth and 114 miles east of Seattle.
