The remains of Alexis Schuler were discovered concealed in a wall behind a makeshift tomb constructed by her alleged killer, Devontae Gray.
The remains of Alexis Schuler, 29, of D.C., who was reported missing last week, have been discovered in a Capitol Heights , Md., home. The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) announced the grim discovery. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) had initially contacted Prince George’s County Police for assistance in the investigation. On January 19th, officers executed a search warrant at the residence of Devontae Gray, 30, located in the 700 block of Larchmont Avenue.
Inside, detectives and an evidence team, along with members of the Prince George’s County Fire Department, found Schuler’s remains. Officials said Gray had made extensive efforts to conceal the body. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Schuler had been shot. Sources told 7News that Gray hid Schuler's body first in a plastic storage bin and then used bricks, cement, and drywall to enclose the woman's remains behind a wall he constructed under a stairwell in his home. The sources said the detectives were able to find security camera video showing Gray going into his home multiple times with construction materials. When police entered the home they saw fresh drywall but it took them a substantial amount of time to demolish the wall and discover Schuler's remains. According to court documents, “After removing the drywall, a makeshift tomb was discovered under the stairs. There was a large plastic bin, wrapped in plastic wrapping, behind a large amount of concrete that was poured by the Defendant . After pouring the concrete around the plastic bin, the drywall was placed and faux brick was then placed on the drywall. PGFD assisted with the demolition of the concrete and removing the bin. The bin was opened and inside a human foot was visible, believed to belong to the Decedent. She was located under a large amount of soil and hay. Forensic Investigator Krob spoke with doctors at the OCME-Baltimore who instructed that the entire bin be transported to the OCME as is, with the decedent still inside, untouched.”Social media posts from individuals identifying as Schuler’s friends described her as a mother of three children at the time of her alleged murder. Gray was taken into custody at the scene and has confessed to the murder. Detectives believe the killing occurred during a dispute. Gray faces charges of first-degree murder and related offenses and is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections
