Austin Police Officer Joseph Cast was on the witness stand for hours Thursday describing the video captured on his body camera on July 31, 2019. That is the day police responded to a 911 call at the Spring Condominiums in Downtown Austin. Mauris DeSilva was having a mental episode and was carrying a large knife as he walked inside and outside the high-rise complex where he lived. Officer Cast testified about what happened after four officers, including him, came face-to-face with DeSilva.
