The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Thursday said it seized a motor tanker carrying 850,000 liters of smuggled fuel in Batangas.
Personnel of the BOC Intelligence Group and the Philippine Navy apprehended on Wednesday motor tanker MT BRALEMAN 1, which had no government-approved marker and pertinent documents, as well as a small motor vessel.
BOC enforcement group Deputy Commissioner Teddy Raval said the two vessels were caught withdrawing fuel and were headed to Pier 13 in the Port of Manila. Authorities instructed both vessels to proceed to the El Fraile in Manila Bay, where the BOC and PN personnel served the warrant and apprehension order.
The agency said a custodial investigation will be conducted for an eventual inquest proceeding and the filing of a criminal case.
