The Bureau of Customs (BOC) said Sunday that the remaining more or less 2,000 abandoned balikbayan boxes in a warehouse in Bulacan are set to be fully delivered before Christmas.
Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, BOC spokesperson Arnaldo dela Torre Jr. said that they will start the free delivery of the balikbayan boxes to provinces this week.
“‘Yun ang pinipilit at pinagdadasal natin na…mai-deliver ito bago mag-Pasko. Mahigit kumulang na lang naman na mga 2,000 balikbayan boxes na natitira dito sa Balagtas, Bulacan,” he said., resulting from unclear directions on the release of over 4,600 balikbayan boxes after months-long delays. These packages that were mainly from the Middle East were said to be abandoned by foreign courier services at the BOC.
Currently, dela Torre said that collection of the packages by intended recipients in the warehouse is still ongoing.
