Bob Odenkirk reveals that he's surprised by his swift return to television after the ending of Better Call Saul. The actor will be back on AMC, the former home of the Breaking Bad universe, with a new drama called Lucky Hank. If the new project is a hit, there's some early speculation that Odenkirk could be nominated for both series.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY But in comments to TVLine to promote Lucky Hank, which debuts March 19 on AMC, Odenkirk revealed that he was surprised about returning to television only seven months after Better Call Saul's season 6 end. The Emmy nominee explained that he agreed to the new show, thinking he'd have a year or so off before the project started, but learned that there was an eagerness to start Lucky Hank right away.
“I said yes to the show, but I thought I’d have a break! But again, figuring it’ll be a year or two after Saul that we’ll do this, and then they were just like, ‘Let’s make it right away. How fast can you grow a beard?'”What Is Odenkirk's New Show, Lucky Hank? Based on the 1997 novel Straight Man by Richard Russo, which was the initial title of the AMC show, Lucky Hank focuses on Hank Devereaux .
The series, which is created by Paul Lieberstein and Aaron Zelman , boasts a stellar supporting cast. Mireille Enos, known for her role as Sarah in The Killing, plays Hank's wife, Lily. The ensemble also includes Sara Amini, Suzanne Cryer, Cedric Yarbrough, Sara Amini, Oscar Nunez, Tom Bower, Kyle MacLachlan, Diedrich Bader, and Olivia Scott Welch. Each character has their own hangups, some scheming for power in a small English department and others working to maintain the peace.
It's no surprise that AMC wants to debut Lucky Hank as soon as possible, building up on the success and celebration of Better Call Saul in its last season. Critics, who have seen the first two episodes of Lucky Hank, describe it as a showcase for Odenkirk that's unlike his previous turns as Saul Goodman and Jimmy McGill.
