A public ceremony with a short light show is planned for March 7.

Boathouse Row is lighted in blue and gold June 9, 2020 in support of essential workers during the coronavirus pandemic. A year-long project to install LED lights that "dance" is nearly complete.

Officials say the Boathouse Row Lighting program can be booked for special events, holidays, sponsored shows, and individual requests. The fees would go to ongoing maintenance of the lights. To install the system, the Schuylkill Navy coordinated with the 15 rowing clubs that occupy the 12 buildings. Women-owned and Philadelphia-based,, which has offices in Philadelphia, Dallas, and New York City, designed the array and upgraded system. Eagle Industrial Electric was the onsite contractor. Nanometer made custom lighting materials.
