Boar's Head announced on Friday that a deli meat plant in Virginia will be indefinitely shut down after being connected to a deadly listeria outbreak.

This sign marks the entrance of the Boar's Head processing plant that was tied to a deadly food poisoning outbreak Thursday Aug. 29, 2024, in Jarratt, Va. began in July after the company discovered product produced at the plant in Jarratt may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

We regret and deeply apologize for the recent Listeria monocytogenes contamination in our liverwurst product," the company said in a statement. "We understand the gravity of this situation and the profound impact it has had on affected families. Comprehensive measures are being implemented to prevent such an incident from ever happening again.
