On Sunday, Nix completed 20-of-35 passes for 246 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions as Pittsburgh limited the Broncos to two fourth-quarter field goals by Wil Lutz.. “They just got to the ball and tackled, and we had a hard time getting to third-and-manageables again. But we can’t keep making that excuse. We got to start playing better, I think, and it starts with me, and it goes to the rest of the squad.
After Lutz’s second field goal with 1:54 to play, Denver decided against an onside kick and didn’t get the football back until nine seconds remained in the game. Nix completed a pass for a 15-yard gain, but his long throw from the Broncos 34 was intercepted on the final snap.Nix had back-to-back completions for 26 and 49 yards to move Denver to the Pittsburgh 7. But the scoring threat ended when rookie cornerback Corey Trice Jr.
