Homes and businesses in the Blythedale Beach area on the north coast will have to cope with very little or no water again on Friday as plumbers try to fix a burst pipe. ECRNewsWatch KZN
iLembe officials say surges, when the water supply was turned off and on by bulk supplier Umgeni Water, increased pipe stress.
The district municipality says the utility experienced interruptions caused by raw water pump failures. It says these caused leaks in the Umgeni Lower Thukela pipeline, forcing Umgeni to stop the supply completely to start repairs.The municipality says the shutdown was meant to last 15 hours on Thursday but has been extended to Friday.A tanker has been dispatched to the area to provide water to residents.
