Blumhouse’s Upcoming Horror Movie Imaginary Drops Spooky New Poster

Summary Imaginary is a new horror film from Lionsgate and Blumhouse Pictures, the studio behind M3GAN, Thanksgiving, and Night Swim. The movie was directed by Jeff Wadlow and written by Wadlow, Greg Erb , and Jason Oremland . Not to be confused with John Krasinski’s IF, Imaginary aims to take the childhood idea of imaginary friends and mine the concept for all the thrills and spooks possible.

The Imaginary movie trailer reveals the form the film’s antagonist will take—that of an unassuming teddy bear—while also hinting at the darker reality of the film itself. In the trailer, the teddy bear plays a game with its young friend which starts off innocent but devolves into something sinister as the bear attempts to manipulate her into harming herself.

More About Imaginary Close Imaginary stars DeWanda Wise as Jessica, Tom Payne as Max, and Taegen Burns as Taylor. It’s Pyper Braun, however, who graces the as Alice, the girl who befriends the sinister teddy bear. Imaginary is just one of many horror movies coming out in 2024, but the striking image on its poster points to a story unique from the rest. Take a look below:

Another layer to the story of Imaginary is that the bear, named Chauncey, actually has a history with Alice’s family. Alice’s stepmother Jessica used to own the bear, but seemingly left him behind. This twist will likely make the film’s scares even more personal considering the movie’s supernatural entity has a grudge against DeWanda Wise’s character.
