Altman, 33, is accused of shooting Rex Plant, the police chief in Memphis, Texas, while Plant and another officer were serving an arrest warrant for a burglary charge.The Hall County Sheriff’s Office dispatch said Altman had not been apprehended as of 4 p.m. Wednesday. An additional arrest warrant for the attempted capital murder of a peace officer has also been issued for Altman.Memphis, the seat of Hall County, is in the Texas Panhandle, southeast of Amarillo and about 280 miles from Dallas. TV news stations in the Amarillo area reported that Plant was released from the hospital a few days after the shooting. Plant was airlifted to a hospital in Lubbock after the shooting.is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to Altman’s arrest. Following the shooting, Altman was added to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s list ofAltman was last seen just after 11 p.m. Oct. 3, about 280 miles away from Dallas, in the 200 block of South 4th Street in Memphis. He was traveling on foot headed toward U.S. Highway 287, according to the alert issued by Texas DPS.Altman is described as a white man, who is 6′2″ and about 220 pounds with red hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans.Authorities believe Altman or his vehicle involves a serious risk or threat to the public and other law enforcement.
