Macy's is tapping international retail executive Olivier Bron to head up its upscale department store.
Macy’s has found a new chief executive to lead luxury department store Bloomingdale’s as it looks to beef up a business that long has been a bright spot for the retailer.
Before joining Bloomingdale’s, Bron was CEO of Central and Robinson department stores in Thailand. He also served in the C-suite at French department store chain Galeries Lafayette, and spent more than a decade working at consultancy firm Bain & Co. Bloomingdale’s has been something of a bright spot for Macy’s as department stores grapple with lagging sales and lackluster results. In the company’s latest fiscal quarter, Bloomingdale’s saw comparable-store sales fall by 2.7%, better than the 9.2% decline notched by Macy’s flagship stores. Bloomingdale’s has outperformed Macy’s in the company’s last six fiscal quarters.
