“Tens of thousands of blind and partially sighted voters cast their vote at the ,” it said. “The majority of these voters did not have the secret vote since they were subjected to the presiding officers and in some instances in front of the party agents reading the list aloud to the blind voter.” Blind SA said the IEC also contravened provisions in South Africa’s Constitution and the United Nations Convention which stipulate that blind voters should have equal access to information in braille.

“I am utterly disgusted with what I found … I even encountered the attitude of ‘What is the big deal? We are here, we can assist you’,” he said.
