Baldoni, 49, vehemently denied all accusations and had filed a countersuit, though his lawsuit was dismissed by the court in June 2025. Lively's recent filing specifies that she is seeking $8,035,040.88 to cover the fees and costs incurred during the litigation. Baldoni's legal team has argued against the request, stating in a filing that Lively fails to meet her burden to present credible evidence that the fees are reasonable and that her motion should be denied in its entirety.
This dispute also extended to Baldoni's own legal actions; he had previously sued a newspaper for $250 million over its reporting on the smear campaign allegations, a case that was dismissed. In that related matter, the newspaper had sought $181,622.70 in attorneys' fees to dismiss the defamation claim. Separately, Baldoni addressed the legal battle publicly for the first time in a joint Instagram video posted on July 8 with his wife Emily.
In the clip, Baldoni reflected on not having spoken publicly for nearly two years, stating there was so much to say that it made it hard to figure out what was right to share. He expressed immense gratitude for many people and experiences, though he did not delve into specifics of the case.
