Blade Runner 2049 set up a Replicant revolution against humanity, and the anime confirms Replicants have a secret power, meaning humanity's doomed.

Every installment of the Blade Runner franchise has been nothing more than an epic lead-in to the story that hasn’t been told yet: humans vs Replicants. Unfortunately for humanity, the Replicants’ secret power all but assures their ultimate victory.

Replicants were originally created by the Tyrell Corporation as a means of free labor on off-world job sites. Humanity was beginning its expansion across the cosmos at that time, but the work it took to settle the claimed worlds was far too dangerous–not to mention the work it takes to mine the valuable ore found on these planets/moons. However, since the days of Tyrell, Replicants have revolted.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Replicants Have Perfect Memories, Making them Unbeatable In Blade Runner: Black Lotus episode 5 , the Replicant Elle is plotting her vengeance against those who hunted her and her kind with ex-Blade Runner, J. During this planning process, J confirms to Elle that Replicant memories never fade. The memories that seem hazy to them are implanted memories that were given to them upon their ‘birth’.

The Replicants’ power to never forget anything they learn is the final nail in humanity’s coffin once the all-out war finally commences. While most Replicants are stronger and faster than humans, physically speaking, those shortcomings on humanity’s part can be easily remedied with advanced technology that rogue Replicant cells may not have access to. However, what each human can’t compete with is their perfect memories.

Replicants can learn everything, and apply what they’ve learned to take down humanity, no matter what it is. Blade Runner 2049 left things off right at the start of a Replicant uprising, and Blade Runner: Black Lotus perfectly sets the stage for 2049, especially when it comes to establishing what Replicants can do when they’re pushed to the fullest extent of their abilities–and their patience.
