Blackpool children seen playing on frozen lake just hours after three boys die in Solihull tragedy
Police in Lancashire have issued an urgent warning to parents after children were seen 'walking and playing' on a frozen lake in Blackpool.
A fourth boy, aged six, remains in a critical condition in hospital. Police said one officer tried to punch through the ice during the rescue efforts.Now, fresh warnings about the dangers of playing on frozen lakes and other volumes of water have been issued by Lancashire Constabulary. It comes after police were 'made aware' of a group of young people walking and playing on a frozen lake in Blackpool's Stanley Park.
"This comes after the tragic loss of life in Solihull over the weekend – our thoughts are with all those affected by this terrible tragedy. There is no way to tell how thick the ice is, so there’s a huge risk of falling through.
