Blackpool Illuminations remain dark before special red white and blue Tower tribute to the Queen
Blackpool Illuminations will remain dark for a second consecutive day following the death of the Queen.
A council spokesperson said: "As a mark of respect following the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, the Blackpool Illuminations display will not be lit tonight . Instead, The Blackpool Tower will be illuminated in red, white and blue in tribute to a monarch who has served our country with the utmost strength, dignity and kindness.
"It will be rescheduled to October half-term. This means the revised dates for the four firework events are: Saturday 1 October, Saturday 15 October, Thursday 27 October, and Friday 28 October." “Not only was it a wonderful occasion enjoyed by all, but it was a fantastic opportunity to show The Queen what a fantastic show we were able to put on, which I hoped she enjoyed.
“We will review all council and mayoral events that are scheduled to take place over the period of mourning and assess which ones are appropriate and can go ahead. Following the period of mourning, I will be writing to the royal family to offer our deepest condolences from everybody in Blackpool.”
