The story takes place at a nightclub in 1929 Berlin during the rise of fascism and centers on a young American novelist named Cliff who travels to the German capital in search of artistic inspiration. Instead, he discovers a world of desire, decadence, jealousy and betrayal. “We want people to walk away with the knowledge that it’s on them to stand up and make a change,” said Katelyn Machnica, house manager at Blackfriars Theatre. “They have to make sure they’re on the right side of history. We want this show to be a mirror to hold up to society. We want them to see these mistakes and tragedies can’t happen again.”
Tickets are sold out for the Saturday evening and Sunday matinee shows, but the theatre is offering spots on a waitlist.
