Black Panther needs to be Batman.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT As he embarks on his new journey as a street-level hero, it may be time for Black Panther to take some cues from Batman. Exiled from Wakanda, with his kingship renounced, T'Challa has relocated to the city of Birnin, T'Chaka. Walking the town by day in disguise as small-time cook Ize Mbaya, T'Challa fights street crime at night as the Black Panther, in a move akin to DC's Batman.

By the end of Black Panther #4 – by Eve L. Ewing, Chris Allen, Mack Chater, Craig Veung, Jesus Aburtov, and VC's Joe Sabino – readers will find that T'Challa might be biting off a little more than he can chew. The concluding pages of the issue suggest that a gang war is brewing in Birnin, and the citizens are in danger of being badly hurt in the pending crossfire.Black Panther Is Stepping In Unfamiliar, And Dangerous, Territory The conflict set up by Black Panther #4 won't be T'Challa's first brush with crime in the short time he's been in Birnin, as organized crime has been spreading for a while now.

Black Panther Isn't Fighting Like A Street Hero There are many instances where the Black Panther's new run can be compared to Batman, but it is through his new introduction to street crime that the heroes' differences become all the more apparent. T'Challa is clearly out of his element, as he hasn't heard of many of the new villains emerging in this series.

T'Challa is still approaching street-level crime like the royal, advanced hero that he is. Even in exile, he maintains his regality, decorum, and integrity, but that isn't going to cut it in this world. Lacking the grit and rugged approach to crimefighting demanded of street-level heroes isn't going to do him any favors when the streets continue to play dirty.
