Security camera footage shows a black bear “nosing through clutter in a side yard” in San Rafael’s Terra Linda neighborhood, wildlife experts said.

Video footage taken Tuesday showed a black bear in a yard in Marin County.Residents of San Rafael’s Terra Linda neighborhood recently captured footage on a security camera showing a black bear “nosing through clutter in a side yard,” wildlife experts“While seeing a Black Bear in a populated area of Marin County certainly warrants raised awareness and some common-sense precautions, there’s no need to panic!” Marin Humane wrote on Facebook.
Marin Humane said the best way to avoid encounters with wild animals in populated areas is to remove food sources that may attract wild animals from yards, including garbage, pet food, fallen fruit and bird feeders. The organization said that uncleaned barbecue grills can “offer a tempting treat to bears.”
Pet owners are advised to keep their animals inside at night. Marin Humane also advised people not to follow a bear for a photo opportunity if they spot one.
