In response to a question regarding the SuicideSquad, Dwayne Johnson gets in character and answers for his DC anti-hero BlackAdam: 'Black Adam doesn’t give a f—ck.'
Keeping in line with his DC persona, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson says Black Adam doesn’t “give a f—ck” about the Suicide Squad. Amanda Waller’s team of convicted supervillains who embark on deadly missions in exchange for reduced sentences was first introduced to the DC Extended Universe in David Ayer’s 2016 film Suicide Squad.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The former WWE superstar turned A-list action hero has been attached to the role of Black Adam for nearly a decade. As one of the most formidable figures in DC lore, Johnson has repeatedly hyped how his character will redefine the hierarchy of power in the DCEU. In the comics, the character is an Egyptian slave who is granted superpowers by the ancient wizard Shazam.
It’s safe to say Johnson is bringing his aloof pro-wrestling attitude to the role of Black Adam. In many ways, The Rock was born to play a superhero, and his upcoming comic book movie should be a defining moment for the actor—something he’s well aware of as he has big plans to portray Black Adam for years to come. Following DC Films’ abandonment of the SnyderVerse , the DCEU has ostensibly hit the reset button as it continues to search for its anchor.
Aside from members of The Suicide Squad—who would undoubtedly not get along with Black Adam—fans want to see Johnson’s character clash with Henry Cavill’s Superman or John Cena’s Christopher Smith/Peacemaker. As he often considers the fandom, Johnson recently teased a potential Superman cameo in Black Adam. Even if that doesn’t come to pass, his character is poised to interact with more than just the JSA in the future.
