Amidst the public debate on whether the DC movie turned a profit or not, a new report indicates that a BlackAdam sequel is uncertain under the current DC regime.

The chance of Black Adam getting a sequel at DC Studios is uncertain amidst concerns of the film not breaking even at the box office and of Dwayne Johnson not exactly winning over management. Black Adam premiered on October 21 and officially introduced Johnson as Teth-Adam after he had been tied to the role since 2014. Additionally, the film's post-credit scene saw the return of Superman on the big screen for the first time in five years.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY As reported by THR, the chance of a Black Adam 2 is now unlikely at DC Studios. The reasons stem mostly from the film's box office performance. Despite earning $385 million at the box office, the film boasted a hefty budget of $190 - $230 million. The budget, combined with additional costs and splitting of profits, means Black Adam will, if anything, only make a meager profit not large enough to spurn a sequel.

How Black Adam 2 Can Still Fit Into A New DCU The DCU is undergoing major changes and seems to be heading in the direction of potentially retiring many of the old regime's heroes. However, there's a chance that Black Adam 2 could still fit into the framework. While it may be easier to write off Superman and Wonder Woman since the characters haven't had major roles in years, Black Adam is still fresh and sparking interest in fans given his newness to the DCU.

Another factor that could contribute to Black Adam 2 is Safran's role as co-CEO. In addition to being co-CEO, he is the producer of Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Perhaps, this position means that Shazam could remain as part of Safran's vision for the future. Meanwhile, with Shazam and Black Adam being sworn nemeses, a Black Adam 2 might still happen if Safran decides to allow them into DCU's future and if Shazam 2 is successful.
