A former Eagles WR still doesn't plan to talk to his former QB, years after the two played together.
Mitchell, who played four seasons in Philadelphia, does not foresee making peace with McNabb, his former quarterback who he’s seemingly never seen eye-to-eye with, anytime soon.on Wednesday. “It’s a lot of things, you know, because it’s like, I don’t get that career back. We know, with him not throwing me the ball and stuff like that, I can’t get that back. And today’s society is based on stats. It’s not based on, ‘Hey, Freddie, go block this linebacker right here to free Westbrook up.
A former first-round pick, Mitchell played all four of his NFL seasons with Philadelphia, where from 2001-04 he caught passes — or, according to him, not enough of them — from McNabb, who reached four of his six Pro Bowls during that span. In that time, Mitchell hauled in 90 passes on 171 targets for 1,263 yards and five touchdowns.
Ultimately, neither Mitchell nor McNabb were able to lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl during their time in Philadelphia. But it’s unclear how much that mattered to Mitchell, who. Mitchell was released three months after the Super Bowl in 2005, didn’t play again and eventually spent three years in prison over a tax fraud case.
