“The World Methodist Council is made up of 80 denominations from around the world that have emerged out of the Methodist movement started by John and Charles Wesley,” Clifton said. Over the past few years, Wallace-Padgett presided over the North Alabama Conference during a period of controversy that saw more than half the churches in the conference “disaffiliate,” or leave the denomination.
