Dr. Deborah Birx says the US is in a new phase in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic, with the deadly virus more widespread than earlier this year. 'What we are seeing today is different from March and April. It is extraordinarily widespread.'
"What we are seeing today is different from March and April. It is extraordinarily widespread. It's into the rural as equal urban areas," Birx, the White House coronavirus task force coordinator, told CNN's Dana Bash on"State of the Union."Birx stressed that Americans need to follow health recommendations, including wearing a mask and practicing social distancing.
"It's not super spreading individuals, it's super spreading events and we need to stop those. We definitely need to take more precautions," Birx told Bash.Birx said each state needs a"dramatically tailored" approach to Covid-19, with a"set of recommendations based on what we are seeing at the community level, what we are seeing relevant to the hospitals.
