Country music legend Billy Ray Cyrus is embarking on a new chapter in his career, collaborating with his talented son Braison Cyrus to produce his upcoming 17th studio album. The father-son duo describes their partnership as a 'full circle' moment, focusing on the themes of music, family, and storytelling. This project comes amidst personal challenges within the Cyrus family, as Trace Cyrus recently voiced concerns about Billy Ray's well-being on social media.
Billy Ray Cyrus is embracing a family affair for his upcoming studio album, enlisting the help of his son Braison Cyrus as the producer. 'This is art imitating life, imitating art,' Billy Ray, 63, stated in a press release shared with People on Friday, January 24th. 'It starts and ends with art. Braison is very talented and it’s his year. I’m glad to be a part of it. This record is gonna be special. I’m gearing up for what will be the journey of a lifetime.
' Billy Ray and Braison, 30, share a close bond, born from a family that has deeply intertwined itself with the music industry. They are among the many children Billy Ray shares with his former wife, Tish Cyrus. The pair officially separated in 2022, after a long marriage that began in 1992, during which they welcomed daughters Miley Cyrus and Noah Cyrus. Billy Ray also adopted Tish's children from a previous relationship, Brandi Cyrus and Trace Cyrus, and has another son, Christopher Cody Cyrus, with ex-partner Kristen Luckey. While several of the Cyrus children have found success as performers, Braison has chosen a behind-the-scenes path, honing his skills as a songwriter and producer. 'I’ve spent this past year getting to know my dad better than I ever have,' Braison shared in his own statement. 'I’ve heard stories, jokes and songs that I don’t think anyone else has. It’s an opportunity to tell my dad’s story through music and I’m fortunate to be able to take it. Music, stories and family are the most important things to my dad so to bring the two together is a full circle endeavor.' The upcoming album, Billy Ray's 17th studio release, is yet to be titled and does not have a confirmed release date. This collaboration comes at a time when Billy Ray's relationship with his children has been in the spotlight. Trace Cyrus, 35, recently expressed concern for his father's well-being on Instagram. 'The man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now,' Trace wrote, 'It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you.' He continued, 'Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away. Noah desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life and you haven’t even been there for her. That’s your baby girl. She deserves better.' While Trace acknowledged that he wasn't sure what Billy Ray was specifically struggling with, he offered his support. 'I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon,' Trace concluded. 'I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help. You know how to reach me. Till that day comes I will continue to pray for you.' Neither Billy Ray nor his other children have publicly addressed Trace's claims.
