— The Bills will be missing their best three players on defense for their home game Monday night against the Jaguars.Now, the other starters and backups will have to step up. That includes Baylon Spector, who came in calling the plays at middle linebacker in place of Bernard in theHead coach Sean McDermott said the key to guys like Spector and cornerback Cam Lewis is they've been in the team's system for a while and know what to expect.
"That's important, and it allows those guys to know what we do, how we want it done, the style of play we want to play with and some level of comfort with them being out there," McDermott explained. "With the time they've had on the field with their teammates — I know they may not have been starters, but they've played alongside of some of the other guys who are out there.
"They trust me and I trust them," Spector said. "I know I'm going to go out there and do my job, flying around and making plays. So I'm just trusting my preparation, my skill set, and I'm ready to go." Monday's game will be Spector's first NFL start. He'll be calling the plays for Buffalo's defense in Orchard Park.
