After last season’s run to the NFC championship game, everybody knew the Lions would be a contender this season. They’ve been better than advertised. The Lions have been breathtaking. The Lions play man coverage on defense, and Allen destroys man coverage, historically. Part of what makes Detroit vulnerable here is that defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn’s system routinely gives up big rushing yardage to mobile quarterbacks.
The offense should succeed in running the ball against Buffalo, which has struggled against bigger and stronger offensive lines. If David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs get going, Detroit’s offense will thrive.
