by Geoff Pender, Mississippi Today February 22, 2023 Two measures aimed at helping rape survivors get justice have unanimously passed the state House but face an uncertain future in the Senate, where they were killed without a vote last year. House Bill 485, authored by Rep. Angela Cockerham, I-Magnolia, would standardize the handling, timely testing and tracking of sexual assault evidence or"rape kits" in Mississippi.
