Bills general manager Brandon Beane looks at the NFL trade deadline as a chance to get better or fill a need, but also to keep an eye on the future.
I think he did that Tuesday by picking up cornerback Rasul Douglas, a veteran to help with his banged-up defensive unit and toBuffalo acquired the 28-year-old corner and a 2024 fifth-round pick from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a 2024 third-round pick. He's been a durable player, missing just nine total games since coming into the league in 2018.People in Green Bay say Douglas is also a leader and a voice that is heard in the locker room.
He has size, standing at 6-foot-2-inches, and he can make plays, racking up nine interceptions over the past two seasons. With Tre White now having back-to-back season-ending injuries, the Bills could look to move on from him, and Douglas could be in line to take his spot. Douglas will join second-year corner Christian Benford and veteran Dane Jackson to fill out the CB depth.2022 first-round pick Kaiir Elam is still on the roster, but the Bills don't want to play him.
I would not be surprised if Douglas is in uniform and getting snaps Sunday for the Bills Week 9 road matchup in Cincinnati.
