Bill Murray may re-live a classic Groundhog Day scene for Jeep Super Bowl commercial
, where the 1993 comedy was filmed, appearing to re-create the encounter between Phil Connors and his old high school classmate Ned Ryerson . Rumors abound that the shoot was for a Jeep commercial to air during this year’s Super Bowl — which, as it happens, will take place on Groundhog Day, Feb. 2.Groundhog Day
follows Murray’s Phil as he becomes trapped in a time loop and re-lives the same day over and over again. Jeep’s parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, would not officially confirm the details of this year’s Super Bowl ad. “The Jeep brand does not comment on the details of on-going video productions that may feature any of its Jeep vehicles,” an FCA representative said.
