An estimated 100 of the super rich gathered at a resort in southern California to discuss ways to give–and give better.

[+]For the first time in three years, members of the Giving Pledge – a promise thathave made to donate at least half their fortune to charitable causes – came together this past week for an in person retreat at a resort in the southern California town of Ojai, two hours northwest of Los Angeles.

Two of the three founders of the Giving Pledge were there, according to one attendee, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the gathering is confidential. Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates welcomed attendees at the opening cocktail reception at the luxe Ojai Valley Inn , acknowledging their 2021 divorce but saying that the split hasn’t deterred their commitment to philanthropy.
