The incident, which occurred on Neverstitch Road shortly before 7pm on Thursday , involved both a car and a motorbike. Emergency services sealed off the road between the roundabouts connecting to School Lane as they responded to the collision.
The injured man has been hospitalised with serious injuries, and police expected the closure to remain for 'some time'. Local residents and commuters were advised to avoid the area and find alternate routes.In a post on the Skelmersdale Police Facebook page last night, a force spokesperson said: "We want to update you and let you know that Neverstitch Road, Skelmersdale is currently closed between both roundabouts that link it to School Lane due to a road traffic collision.
"In the meantime, we'd recommend looking for an alternative route and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination. We'll keep tabs on what's happening and we'll update you here once the road is open.In an update shortly before 3am this morning , Skelmersdale Police said: "We let you know earlier that Neverstitch Road, Skelmersdale had closed due to a road traffic collision. We can now let you know that the road is open for you to travel.
