Biker hospitalised and driver arrested after Darwen crash closes road for hours

The incident, involving a car and a motorbike, took place on Bolton Road at around 5.20pm on Thursday . Lancashire Police said the motorbike rider suffered a leg injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the car, a 37-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess drugs. He remains in custody for questioning.A force spokesperson said: "We were called at 5.20pm yesterday to a report of a road traffic collision on Bolton Road, Darwen. A car and a motorbike were involved in the collision.

"The motorbike rider suffered a leg injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. The driver of the car, a 37-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess drugs and is currently in custody." A statement on the Blackburn and Darwen Police Facebook page last night said: "We’re currently at the scene of a road closure on Bolton Road, between the junctions with Mill Gap Street and Taylor Street in Darwen. The road is closed due to a road traffic collision and we anticipate this will be closed for some time."
