A Big Ten team has made a decision on its offensive coordinator's future after two consecutive seasons of dreadful offense.
Iowa announced Monday that offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz , son of head coach Kirk Ferentz , will be relieved of his position at the end of the 2023 season. , the coordinator behind the worst offense in Division I football has learned that contest will be one of his final games at his position.
Brian Ferentz entered the season with a scorching-hot seat after the unit he runs put together one of the worst offensive seasons in the Big Ten of the century last fall. The Hawkeyes averaged 251.6 in total offense — the worst in Power 5 play, 130th nationally and the lowest among Big Ten teams since at least 1999 — and 17.7 points per game, which ranked No. 123 nationally. They were 127th in yards per carry , 126th in passing touchdowns and 129th in third-down percentage .
The Hawkeyes leadership had seen enough, and on Monday, they officially announced an end point to the experiment, giving the fans who have been suffering through painful football for years a day to celebrate.
