The league also announced a partnership with U.S. Integrity, a leading monitoring service that also works with the SEC and Big 12.
As part of the Big Ten policy, schools will submit availability reports no later than two hours before kickoff, and they will be released to the public by the league. Breach of the policy will be subject to conference discipline.
College sports are quickly trying to catch up to legalized sports gambling, but they’ve already been hit on multiple fronts. In May, U.S. Integrity president Matt Holt told me that all sports leagues should have public injury reports. Sports betting appears to be the trigger that will force transparency from secretive football coaches, some of whom never say a word about injury or availability. Legalized sports betting is one of the most monitored services in the country, because the entire industry relies on legitimacy.
