In just the past year, 203 children from 10 different states have come to live at Big Oak Ranch.
Big Oak Ranch CEO Brodie Croyle thanked donors who provided funding to build two new houses for girls.Big Oak Girls’ Ranch in Springville opened two newly built homes this week that will house six to eight girls in each, along with houseparents.
“The individuals, families or foundations who fund the home construction phase of our mission are vital to us being able to say we take no state or federal funding, while operating 100 percent debt free,” Croyle said. “We are incredibly grateful for the donors who come alongside us to build these homes for children who desperately need them.”
Croyle took over running Big Oak Ranch from his father, founder John Croyle, who also played football at the University of Alabama and started Big Oak Ranch as a Christian ministry with encouragement from Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant and other supporters from his playing days.“We have admired the mission of Big Oak Ranch for many years,” they said in a statement released on the opening of the house.
The children are between the ages of six and 18, and come from situations of abuse, neglect, and abandonment.
