PHNOM PENH, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia on Saturday confirmed nine new imported Covid-19 cases, raising the total number of infections to 139, according to a Health Ministry's press statement.
The latest cases included eight Cambodians aged between 23 and 26 years old, and a 22-year-old Indonesian man, the statement said, adding that they all travelled to Cambodia from Indonesia via a direct flight on Thursday.
"Their samples had been taken for lab tests at the Pasteur Institute of Cambodia, and the testing results showed that they were positive for the Covid-19," Health Ministry's secretary of state and spokeswoman Or Vandine said. "Currently, the nine new patients are undergoing treatment at isolation wards in the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh," she added.
Vandine said other 31 passengers including 16 Cambodians, 14 Indonesians and one Vietnamese have been put under a 14-day mandatory quarantine at various quarantine centers. The South-East Asian country has so far recorded a total of 139 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 129 patients cured and 10 remained hospitalised, she said. Enditem
