New York City officials have started enforcing rules concerning short-term rentals, requiring them to be registered and for hosts to abide by certain residency rules.
“New York City’s new short-term rental rules are a blow to its tourism economy and the thousands of New Yorkers and small businesses in the outer boroughs who rely on home sharing and tourism dollars to help make ends meet.
Of the more than 3,200 applications filed, only about 800 were reviewed and about half of those were returned with requests for more information or corrections. Overall, 260 were approved for registration,If a host does not get approval, the listings are to be removed from the rental platforms,reported. It will be the responsibility of Airbnb and the like to confirm that a host has registered and that the application has been approved.
