"I ran for president because I believed that the soul of America was at stake. The very nature of who we are was at stake. And, that’s still the case," Biden wrote. "America is an idea stronger than any army and larger than any ocean. It’s the most powerful idea in the history of the world. That idea is that we are all created equal, endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights, among them life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."addressing his administration's legacy and efforts. His speech highlighted NATO expansion efforts, a rallying of allies and military aid efforts to Ukraine and an agreement between Japan and South Korea to expand security. Right now, in my view, thanks to our administration, the United States is winning the worldwide competition. Compared to 4 years ago, America is stronger. Our alliances are stronger. Our adversaries and competitors are weaker. We have not gone to war to make these things happen," Biden said., just a third of Americans believe the country is heading in the right direction as Biden leaves office. “His approval is 37%. I believe that is a near-historic low for him in our polling,” said Matt Taglia, the senior director of Emerson College Polling, which released aHis approval has dropped 12 points overall and 16 points among his Democratic base of supporters. The survey conducted this month shows 70% of Democrats, 10% of Republicans, and just a third of independents approve of Biden’s job performance.He ran for president twice, falling short both times, before becoming Barack Obama's running mate in 2008.
