Rochester, N.Y. — Parents with children in the Rochester City School District spoke out Tuesday night at an open forum regarding a pending reconfiguration plan, arguing how it could negatively impact the community.School No. 10 community rallies to protest proposed RCSD closures"My main concern is where do I send her? Where is she gonna be going? Will she fit in there?" questioned Patricia Brown, whose granddaughter attends Anna Murray-Douglass Academy School No.
RCSD School Board President Cynthia Elliott said it's important to consider the benefits the plan could have down the road. "We don't take any pleasure in this, but we do know that the enrollment is going down, live birth rates are going down, and we have to look at what this district is going to look like in the future," Elliott explained.
The school board is set to vote on the plan Thursday, Oct. 19. If passed, the changes would go into effect for the 2024-2025 school year.
